Upcycled Robin Egg Vase

Let's upcycle a glass jar into this fun spring time Robin Egg Vase! This makes a great Easter decoration or a fun gift. You can get creative with different colors and make this craft your own!

This DIY is super simple and you only need a few supplies.

Supplies:
  • Mason Jar (I'm upcycling a tomoto sauce jar!)
  • Light Blue Paint - for the base
  • Navy Blue Paint for the speckles (metallic gold paint optional but I used both)
  • Paint brush
  • Old toothbrush (or you can also use a paintbrush for this step as well)
  • Burlap, twine, or ribbon is optional

Start by painting the base color of your jar. I used a light blue but other pastel colors would look beautiful as well!

Let it dry and see if you need another coat of paint. I applied two coats of paint so there were no streaks.

Now time for the fun part! Pour your paint for the speckles. I used navy blue and gold. Dip your toothbrush in the paint and run your thumb through the bristles to get a splatter effect. I practiced on some paper first to get a feel of the best way to do it so I recommend starting with that to test it out.

You can also use a paintbrush for this step. When using the paintbrush I did notice I got bigger "splash" type marks on the jar. I like how it turned out just a heads up if you're using a paint brush bigger paint sprays are more likely.

I added some gold metallic splashes as well for an extra pop. This step isn't necessary but you can definitely add multiple colors for the speckles - have fun with it!

I ended up having some scrap burlap pieces that I decided finished off the vase nicely. You can leave it as is or add a little extra touch with some twine, burlap, or ribbon.

And that's it! I'll be giving these flowers and magazine scrap card as a gift to my mom when I visit for Easter :) Hope you enjoy this upcycled vase DIY!
