DIY Upcycled Gift Tag

DIY

Have some magazines lying around? Let’s turn them into a gift tag! It’s super easy and a fun, personalized gift tag to add to a gift.

Supplies Needed:

  • Magazine Pages

  • Scissors

  • Glue Stick

  • Hole Punch

  • Twine or string

First, we’ll start by cutting out a gift tag shape. You can either draw a tag shape then cut it or free cut the shape out. Be sure to cut this tag shape on a piece of the magazine that is blank on one side so you’ll be able to write a note on the backside of it.

Once you have your tag cut out, start cutting out thin strips of different colored magazines pages that are the same length as the tag or even a little longer (we’ll trim the excess at the end!) Then arrange the colored strips how you’d like to glue them on the tag.

Once you like the arrangement, use a glue stick to put glue on the backside of the tag. If you have double-sided craft tape, you could use that instead of glue for this step!

Once you have your glue down, put your selected magazine strips on the tag. I’d recommend to almost overlap the strips you place down so the tag color and/or text doesn’t show through.

Then grab some scissors and trim off the excess pieces of magazine scripts sticking out.

Once your strips are all glued on, pick another colored piece of a magazine to use to cut a heart out. After you cut your heart out, glue it on the tag.

We’re almost done! Hole punch in the top center of the tag then cut a piece of twine or string to finish off the tag.

And that’s it! Put your own twist on it and have fun with this upcycled DIY!
