If you’re looking for cute, autumn-themed decor or a thoughtful gift, this DIY is perfect! I made a fall clay frame for my parents and sister, and I love how they turned out—I might need one for myself, too!
Supplies:
Frame
Polymer Clay
Autumn Clay Cutter
Mod Podge
Gold Leafing
gorilla glue
It’s simple but requires patience. First, I mixed clays to get just the right colors I wanted and made sure at least one of the clays was a metallic shade for a bit of shiny finish. After that, I rolled out the clay on parchment paper and used autumn-themed clay cutters to cut out all these shapes. Using the cutter was a little tricky for me so for easier handling, I recommend keeping the clay slightly thicker and carefully using an X-Acto knife to help remove the clay out. I also used a little bit of cornstarch on the cutters which helped reduce sticking a bit. Once all the cutouts were done, I put the on parchment paper, baked them at 275°F for 15 minutes, then let them cool completely.
Next, I applied a thin layer of Mod Podge on the frame and then added gold leaf on top of that. Once dry, I arranged the clay pieces on one frame to plan my layout, then secured them on another with Gorilla Glue. I added the picture that I formatted on Canva and printed at CVS and that’s it!
I love how cute and cozy the final look turned out! If you try this DIY, tag me on Instagram—I’d love to see your creations!
