How to make Oat Milk

ps: I love the plant based + gluten free cookie dough by Sweet Lorens!

Oat milk and cookies anyone? Oat milk is really having a moment and understandably so! Not only is it a delish dairy-free alternative but it also requires less water usage than other milk options like almond milk and regular dairy milk. Buying oat milk from the store is already a more conscious option but making it at home is even better and super easy! It takes about 5-8 minutes including cleanup and you really only need oats and water so it ends up being less expensive too. I’ve played around with different recipes and finally made my own that I love. It comes down to your preference so feel free to use the recipe below as your base and play around to make it your own. I use nut milk bags from Simple Ecology and store it in a 32oz mason jar which is exactly how much this recipe makes. Feel free to add more vanilla, sweetener, or whatever you like!

Recipe:

1 Cup of oats

4 Cups of water (use cold water)

1 Tsp of vanilla*

Dash of salt*

*optional - my personal preference :)

Directions:

Blend all ingredients for 30 seconds in a blender. Pour through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth into whatever container you like. Store in the fridge and enjoy!
